Week 5 and 6

Nod relaxes in the grass. You can really see his wooly coat coming in now!
Shiny floors are no problem for these pups!

Even with only two pups there is less room at the milk bar

Wink fell asleep in her food bowl.

Nod is wondering what Chalu is doing- yes, he did get on the couch by himself.

Why play with toys when the basket tastes so good

I have no idea why but this is the favorite squeeky toy du jour at my house. All the dogs love it.

5 weeks old old and Nod already has the Chinook twist down when sleeping

Wink prefers a more normal position to soak up the sun

Wink looks nicely built so far

Look at Nod's big fluffy butt!

Peter and Nod have some male bonding time

Saluki ears make nice toys. Watcher is very tolerant- which means she is missing half her ears now!

Katsuk checks in on Chalu play time with the pups

Time for some visitors. The neighbor girls come over to play with the dogs often and they were very excited to get to play with puppies this time.

What is better than kids and puppies?

Rainbow Bridge

I am very sad to say Mr. Blink crossed the Rainbow Bridge the day after his 4 week birthday. He had a congenital esophagus and stomach issue that was not seen until he started to eat regular food. The prognosis was poor for recovery, even if he survived the surgeries needed to correct his abnormalities so i made the decision to euthanize him. He died peacefully in my arms. He was a very sweet pup, the most cuddly of the three and would rush to the side of the box when he heard my voice. I was excited to see the adult dog he would become and I am devastated he will not be able to share his wonderful personality with a loving family. I know there are many chinooks waiting on the other side to show him ropes and keep him company.
Wink and Nod are now a twosome.

A sweet little boy

Week 3 and 4

Blink, Wink, and Nod after a day of play
Nod and Wink are all about the food! The first feeding at 3 weeks almost always involves some feet in the food.

The pups are not quite sure what this is all about but soon catch on.

An old playpen makes a great play area for a small litter of pups. They enjoy boucning off the walls- as Wink is demonstrating here. Wink tried that on the whelping box later that day and found it did not have the same give as the playpen! I fold the side of the pen down to let the pups and adults clinb in and out or I will put the sides up when I am busy and can't supervise puppy playtime closely.

Chaluki's turn to be an aunt

The pups LOVE to chew and pull on Faethe's ears. She is very tolerant and remembers this from when she raised a litter of Chinook pups.
