2 week update

The pups are growing fast! 2 weeks have flown by...it is easy when mom dog is doing all the work. There are not a lot of close up pics this week as eyes are just opening and I do not want to get close with the flash.

Nod is the laziest pup but here he is checking out the stuffed toys. It is a whole new world now that he can see. Wink, who is the most active pup, snoozes on top of Blink, who is the cuddliest pup.

Cute! I love the belly up when sleeping

Cornelia and Honey check out the pups. Now that they are two weeks, the other dogs get a little more access and these two can't wait to be aunts.

Honey is a natural babysitter and flops right down to mother the pups. Watcher peeks in to check everything out.

Honey is a good babysitter

Watcher really thinks of getting in the box but does not get the courage to do so.

Miss Wink tries really hard to get some milk out of Honey, who is happy to let her nurse but is not lactating...yet. She very well may start to if the pups keep nursing.

Cornelia's turn to babysit. Cornelia has nice helicopter ears but whenever she is around babies, she gets so excited that they boing erect- sometimes standing straight up.

Chaluki creeps up to see the pups- she is pretty intimidated by the pups and is nervous about approaching the box. Seeing the other dogs get in and out helped her build up her courage.

Pagan gives a sniff. He is nice to pups but really is not too interested until they are old enough to run around and play

All that socializing is tiring to young pups

Blink gnaws on Nod's face. Starting 2 days ago the WWE Wrestling started

Wink attackes Cornelia's dewclaw pad while Kila looks on. Kila is not allowed in the whelping box- she is a bit too clumsy for young pups but she is a good playmate when they get older.

One Week Old

Wow, the milk bar is already looking smaller!
More, more, more. you will notice almost all my photos are of nursing pups...it is because they usually fall asleep with the nipple in their mouths and then just continue on when they wake up. Katsuk does roll them around and they do scoot around when she is out of the box.

Miss Wink is the smallest pup of the litter...if you can call 2.5lbs at one week old small!!

She has a nice little head

Nod is the big boy of the litter- over 3lbs as of tonight! triple his birth weight in his first week of life.

Blink at 1 week- right before he scooted across the box to get to dinner. He is the most mobile of the pups and will actually move around the box for no real reason- unlike the other two who only move to get food or get on the heating pad.

Bath time

Oh Mom! Not now!!

Wink was pretty cheesed off that Katsuk flipped her off of the milk bar to get a bath- she was protesting most vigorously

Welcome to the world

Katsuk gave birth to 3 beautiful pups on midnight, thursday march 8th. This was my first nighttime litter! All my previous litters have been born in the daytime. Katsuk must know that I don't go to bed until 2 in the morning anyway so she assumed this time was as good as any:-) The sire is Sugar River Jackjumper Song. I don't have a theme picked out yet for this litter so in the meantime I am calling them Wink, Blink, and Nod

I am glad I upgraded to the 5x 4.5 foot whelping box! Katsuk would not be comfortable in my old 4x4!!
Two puppies out, 1 more to go!

Blink checks out mom's face- nope- no milk there.

Birth is complete, time for a snack!!

Hey, there are 10 working nipples! You don't need to fight over this one!!!

Blink ( male) snoozes after a snack

Nod's (male) turn to snooze. He is a moose and put on 6 oz his first day! What a piggy!!!

Wink ( female) creeps over to the heating pad

Blink at one day old

Nod nabs the prime sleeping spot while Wink and Blink eat...again

Happiness is eating and getting a bath at the same time

Nod looks like a little polar bear cub- love the tongue and crossed paws

What a difference a day makes- they look so much bigger after just one day of life!!

Proud parents Katsuk and Jack

Katsuk enjoys a sedate moment on the dock before babies arrive
